How many Gospels are there? The Bible gives us a clear answer: there is One Gospel. There are four Gospel accounts, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, but they do not present four different ways to God.
They testify to the same Jesus Christ, the same cross, the same resurrection and the same Gospel of salvation. There is one Truth. There is one Gospel. There is one Saviour. There is one way to the Father. And that way is Jesus Christ.
The entire story of Scripture points to Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, we see God's redemptive plan unfolding, humanity's fall, God's promises, the need for a Saviour, Christ's coming, His sacrifice on the cross, His resurrection and the promise of redemption for all who believe.
The Bible is not a collection of disconnected stories. It is one great story of redemption, pointing ultimately to Christ. From the beginning, God was revealing His plan. And that plan leads us to the cross.
Paul gave a serious warning: “But even if we, or an angel from Heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8
That warning still matters. It matters now more than ever. Do not be deceived by teachings that create a different gospel to suit culture, personal agendas or politics.
Do not change the Gospel to make it acceptable to the world. Do not soften the truth because the truth makes people uncomfortable. Do not add to God's Word. Do not take away from God's Word. Do not twist God's Word to make it say what we want it to say.
The Gospel was never given to be redesigned. It was given to be proclaimed.
There are many voices. Many denominations. Many interpretations. Many teachers. But there is not a multitude of gospels. There is one Gospel.
Salvation is found in Jesus Christ. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
Do not follow every new teaching. Test everything against the Word of God. The Gospel has not changed. Jesus Christ is still the Way. Jesus Christ is still the Truth. Jesus Christ is still the Life. And God's Word stands forever.
What was true yesterday is still true today. And what is true today will still be true tomorrow.
We are living in serious times. Scripture warns that in the last days there will be great deception, and that false teachers and false prophets will arise, even among those who claim to speak in the name of Christ.
Jesus Himself warned: “For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” Matthew 24:24
These are not words we should read casually. Jesus was warning His followers to watch, discern and remain faithful. The greatest danger is not always the voice that openly rejects Christianity. Sometimes the greatest deception comes from within the religious community, when God's Word is slowly changed.
It may begin with something that sounds harmless. A small compromise. A teaching adjusted to fit society. A verse taken out of context. A human opinion presented as divine revelation. A message designed to attract crowds rather than confront hearts. And before long, the truth can become so diluted that people no longer recognise the difference between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the gospel created by man.
That is why we must know the Word for ourselves. Do not follow every preacher. Do not believe every teaching. Do not accept every “new revelation.” Know your Bible. Read the Scriptures. Study the Scriptures. Search the Scriptures. And when someone teaches something, no matter how famous, charismatic or convincing they may be, test it against the Word of God.
With more than 45,000 Christian denominations and movements around the world, one cannot help but ask: How did we get here?
The problem is not that God's Word is unclear. The problem is that people have become determined to interpret it according to their own desires.
Too many have created their own theology. Too many have allowed culture to dictate what Scripture should say. Too many have placed human opinion above God's Word. Too many have become more concerned with being accepted than being faithful.
And perhaps the most uncomfortable question we need to ask ourselves is this: Are we following the Gospel of Jesus Christ or a version of Christianity that we have created for ourselves?
Because Christianity is not about creating a Jesus who agrees with us. It is about surrendering ourselves to the Jesus revealed in Scripture. It is not about changing the Word to fit our lives. It is about allowing the Word to change our lives.
The Gospel does not need to be modernised. It does not need to be politically corrected. It does not need to be made more entertaining. It does not need to be made more comfortable. It needs to be believed.
The cross is still the cross. Sin is still sin. Repentance is still necessary. Grace is still amazing. Forgiveness is still available. Jesus is still Lord. And salvation is still found in Him alone.
We must be careful not to confuse popularity with truth, charisma with anointing, signs with sound doctrine, or large crowds with God's approval.
The size of a following does not determine the truth of a message. The question is not, “How many people believe it?” The question is: “Does it agree with the Word of God?”
Jesus never promised that the road would be popular. He called us to follow Him. He called us to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him.
When every opinion has passed away, His Word will remain. When every trend has disappeared, His Truth will remain. When every human voice has fallen silent, Christ will still be Lord. The Gospel has not changed. Jesus has not changed. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
One Gospel. One Truth. One Saviour. One Way. Jesus Christ.
